This is the small south beach we
were anchored off. This beach had many interesting shells and if
you walked along it towards the outside of the bay, you can find many
geods in the rock face. |
| This is the larger, more central,
north beach which led to a very interesting pink rock face with a large
sand dune we climbed to get this view point. |
 |
 |
The rock face was a crumble of
loose shale rock which we clambered over to reach the top. |
| Here you can see how the weather has
carved the smooth low rocks into unique shapes, it is stunningly
beautiful. |
 |
 |
Similar smooth pink rocks are on the
North side and these are fun to explore, finding interesting shapes
formed by the wind and waves. |
| The view from the top of the smooth
pink rocks show the North beach and the pink sand. |
 |
 |
These incredible rocks are really
quite smooth, even though they appeared to quite jagged in places. |
| The strange rock formations really
do play tricks with the eye sometimes...... |
 |
 |
The rock face on the south beach is
made up of multi layers of different rocks, many of which have natural
geods. We found some with very complete crystals, almost
transparent in appearance. |
| Here is a close up of one of the
geods we found, these crystals were not as well formed as some, but it
gives a good indication of the kind we were finding.. Once we knew
what to look for we also found many on the beach which had been broken
free by rock falls. |
 |
 |
The many different shapes and
patterns formed by the different rocks were fascinating, we could have
spent weeks exploring them. |
| These multi painted crabs were about
8" across and they would always surprise you when you were
clambering amongst the rock pools. They could also jump a good three feet
and were very fast.. |
