If you squint you can just make out
our boat at anchor off this shell beach, near the sand dunes. |
| Behind the village of Magdalena you
can walk through the aroyos to the Pacific side. The going was a
bit slippy on the loose rocks, but the view was worth it! |

This is the sand spit that extends
out from the west side of the sand dune anchorage and is always
inhabited by hundreds of Pelicans, Curlews and other sea birds.
They let me walk pretty close to them before they decided to fly away. |
| Santa Maria and Mag Bay was a shell
collectors paradise...all I have to do now is get creative! This
was the state of the cockpit after I had washed them all and laid them
out to dry....no room for sitting! |

The Mangroves could be entered by
dinghy at slack tide and was a haven for many different types of sea
birds which you could get quite close to. These snowy white birds
where different types of curlews we hadn't seen before. |
| We visited the mangroves with our
friends from Exodus and took our dinghies through the narrow passages
until we could go no further, ducking our heads as the branches closed
in on us as we ventured further. |
