The back drop of mountains at this
anchorage was very impressive and the ground was covered in a soft
golden grass giving it a unique appearance. |
| There were four boats at anchor
which was comfortable, but the best anchorage to avoid the refracted
north swell was only big enough for one. Still, the views made up
for the slightly rolly ride and it did give very good protection from
the North wind. We also found some interesting snorkeling rocks
close to the beach. |

You could walk along the rocky shore
line to the North, either from the beach or over the small
mountain. We took the mountain trail which led through these
unique red rocks. What you are seeing is actually a dry river bed which
are found everywhere you go and make exploring much easier. |
| The soft golden grasses shimmered in
the sunlight which lit the rocks a violet colour, giving it a postcard
beauty. This is the view into the valley behind the anchorage. |

The trail was quite well worn so we
were not the first to discover this place of beauty. This is the
mountain trail to the shoreline shown below. |
| You can walk this rocky shoreline
from the beach and right along to Aqua Verde if you had the time and
energy. I guess we walked several miles before the shoreline
started to sweep to the west, at which point we turned back around as
the tide was on the way in and we didn't want to be left stranded with
our backs against the undercut! Our boats are anchored on the
other side of the light coloured rock you see in the background of this
photo. |

The tide pools along the shoreline
were really interesting and these tiny sea anemones about 1" across
fascinated us. |
| These guys had some kind of strange
tails that really wiggled! |
