The bar entrance to Newport was wide
and very calm when we came through and is generally a good crossing if
done at the right time. Being our second bar crossing we were now old
hats at this tricky maneuver and the confidence was now running high. |
| Although there is lots of clearance
under the bridge (129ft) we still felt like the mast would scrape the
underside. This is a very scenic bridge and the walk across from the
marina to the town of Newport was a fun one hour walk. |

Looking into the marina where we
stayed for the evening and the long public crabbing and fishing jetty on
the other side of the bridge. |
| This is the view of the bridge from
the marina with the breakwater and public jetty below. Julie and I were
not here long enough to capture the essence of Newport but the marina
was very clean with a brewpub right at the end of the docks. |
