| We decided to challenge the local mountain,
Tetekawi just outside our marina and hiked up the flank on the right
side to the top. There is a rough trail that we followed but long pants
were the order of the day because of the spikes that everything here has
and the trail was a trifle overgrown due to the over abundance of water
this time of year. The top right photo sees us about half way up looking
northwest towards what is locally known as Catch 22 Bay where the movie
was filmed years ago. |

 |
| Nearing the top now and the vistas are
getting farther and farther. Julie finally heaves a sigh of relief as we
reach our topmost resting place very very near the pinnacles. It was a
steep crumbly scramble at the end of the hike and we were happy to rest.
The view down looked much more scary and we decided not to think about
it at this time. |

| Our hiking companion Peter poses for a
spectacular shot on the edge of the precipice. San Carlos Bay tapers
down into a shallow estuary above with some more great hikes up through
the valley. |
 |
 |
| Above are some wonderful views of San Carlos
and our marina. The marina has the large well equipped Hotel Marinaterra
at it's edge with restaurants and shops around it. One can also tie to a
buoy in the bay or just anchor out and enjoy the quiet and solitude of
being on the hook. |

 |
| Peter gives a victory salute as he reaches
one of Tetekawi's peaks as Julie enjoys her perch on the edge slightly
below. |
